The Sterilization act was passed in 32 states and 2 Canadian provinces Alberta and British Columbia. Patients were sterillized to prevent transmission of “mental disibility” and none of the women concented to this but were forced to do the procedure. This artpiece connects into a shape of a Euderus which is the body part that was sterilized on women. Many were told that they were unfit for motherhood and the government didnt know at the time that preventing women from having children is an act of genocide.
